We are first-generation immigrants who arrived in the United States from Korea on May 18, 1995. What started that same year with T&B Flooring grew, over three decades, into a full-service construction and development group — T&B Group — under the leadership of Founder & CEO Tae Jang.
Under T&B Construction, we built a track record most homeowners never see behind the scenes: a Home Depot flooring installation contract, work as a State Farm Insurance PSP (Premier Service Provider) contractor, a Fairfax County contract, and — through T&B Home — hands-on experience building new homes from the ground up and managing land development from raw lot to finished lot.
The Reset
The 2008 financial crisis took nearly everything the group had built. In 2010, we rebranded as Blue Bird and started rebuilding — this time with damaged credit and no access to conventional bank financing.
We rebuilt by borrowing from private lenders and flipping single-family homes across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. It was slower, harder, and riskier than the old way — but it worked, project by project, house by house.
As the rebuild gained traction, Tae Jang — carrying decades of hands-on construction, new-home building, and land-development experience — partnered with finance expert Karen Dematteo. Together they founded T&B Capital LLC as the mother company overseeing the group's development and flip business, pairing construction execution with financial discipline.
Since the T&B Capital era began, BlueBird Renovation has completed 44+ residential flip projects across DC, Capitol Heights, Fairmount Heights, Brentwood, Beltsville, Temple Hills, Oxon Hill, Bushwood and beyond in Maryland — the foundation that rebuilt the company's credibility and capital base.
A key part of this next chapter is deliberate community outreach — starting with marketing to the Korean-American community, and expanding into every community we serve.

Our Mission
We focus on the investment market that mid-size developers and individual investors actually live in — not the mega-cap tier the largest firms compete for. Our goal is to share 30 years of hard-earned construction, development, and finance experience with the Korean community and every minority community we can reach.
